KARANA DOWNS AND MT. CROSBY

BACKYARD WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT

Corridor management has to counteract the effects of weed and pest invasion, dogs and fences. As most of the corridors are on privately owned land, thoughtful management is up to us. We can, through an awareness of the need for corridors, achieve a sense of 'local ownership' and play an active role in their management.

Let the saplings on your land, particularly in the 'wallaby zone', grow into healthy bushland requiring little maintenance.

Minimise vegetation clearance i.e. the felling of native trees, consistent with safety considerations such as bushfire protection. Also, minimise disruptive earthworks i.e. avoid cut and fill banks which restrict the movement of wallabies
